Emrys Williams

 

Emrys was born in Froncysyllte and the family moved to the Ellesmere Port area in the 1927. He spent many years working at Shell Stanlow and retired in 1977.

Nowadays Emrys is busy with his musical and artisitic interests and devotes a considerable amount of time in passing on his skills to others. He has produced numerous sketches and water-colours of scenes in Cheshire and Wales and has used them in his choir's charity calendars over the past twenty-five years. He has also demonstrated his work at various venues including the United States of America.

His painting group held at - and in aid of - the Welsh Chapel in Ellesmere Port includes beginners who receive coaching, and several experienced amateurs. All are welcome.

On the musical front success came his way as a tenor soloist at many festivals, including Llangollen. More recently he has published choral arrangements and original compositions and gained a first prize at the 1999 National Eisteddfod.
